Stick Figure Night Live! is a series of stick figure comic “recreations” of episodes of Saturday Night Live. Just as the show itself is performed live, the comics are drawn “live” while watching the show (with the occasional assist from DVR or some digital clean-up post scanning).
Lots of “parades of impressions/parodies” lately, which leads to a lot of “widescreen” panels…and lots of note-taking during the sketch so I can remember as much as I can during commercials (though sometimes I admit, I pause and/or rewind).
I’m sure I’m not the first to say it was pretty neat to see a sketch lead into the musical guest’s first performance. I’ll admit to thinking, “boy, they’re really shoehorning Cee Lo Green and his song into a lot of these sketches”, but at least in that one it was downright functional. Very cool.
And I’m sure I’m not the first or last person to say that the joke about firing a musket, complete with the pantomime, reminded me a LOT of what I’m pretty sure was an old Bill Cosby routine, which kind of threw me.
See you in two weeks with Jesse Eisenberg and Nikki Minaj. I predict a possible return of Taran Killam’s Michael Cera (because apparently folks consider Eisenberg and Cera two sides of the same coin, so to speak)…
