It’s been a busy year here at Hatter Entertainment…and if you’ve been here before you can see the site looks different (version 3.0, if you will), which is among the things occupying time, along with:
PIX: ONE WEIRDEST WEEKEND, my original graphic novel, published by Hatter Entertainment, my publishing company. I did make sure to talk about that, and that book (and future books) has it’s very own website, PixComic.com, and will be in (better) comic book stores on February 11, 2015 (for more, again, visit PixComic.com)!
STUFF SAID, my “flagship” podcast, which this year officially marked it’s third year of monthly episodes. I also put out several special episodes, like the special April 1 episode and going bi-monthly for July and August, when I presented a series of recordings of convention panels I’d done. If you’re not listening to the show, it also has its own website, StuffSaidShow.com!
Speaking of podcasts, I appeared on several that weren’t hosted by me! Check out my appearances on Comics Are Great episodes 100 and 101, Fabulous Secrets, and my talk with Matthew Winner on his Let’s Get Busy show.
SPONGEBOB COMICS, my “day job” as I call it, which is to say it’s the job that helps me afford to do the work above (until those things become sustainable and all that). I drew, as I do, a bunch of those comics, some covers, wrote and drew stories…of particular note was the 2014 Free Comic Book Day issue (May ’14), which had in it a story where I had the honor and pleasure of ostensibly creating Mermaid Girl, a brand new character to the SpongeBob mythos (along with the villain Octopus Doctor). And more recently, the cover to SPONGEBOB COMICS #39 (Dec ’14) got some really high praise from J. Caleb Mozzocco at Every Day is Like Wednesday, and Mark Waid, who tweeted about it: “My favorite new comic book cover in YEARS.”
TRAVELING, going to several conventions and did appearances at comic shops. I was a guest at Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle, WA. I participated in another awesome Free Comic Book Day at Acme Comics in Greensboro, NC. I attended Kids Read Comics in Ann Arbor, MI and the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas in June, debuted PIX: ONE WEIRDEST WEEKEND at Baltimore Comic-Con in September. And following New York Comic Con, I had appearances at The Comic Book Shop in Wilmington, DE and East Side Mags in Montclair, NJ…and just this past November Aw Yeah Comics in Skokie, IL hosted me as well.
FOOD making, though I’ve not covered it here so much, my made up holiday, All-Hallow’s Giving, continued for another year wherein I invented/executed the Cake-Pie-Pie-Cake, about which I really should put a post up.
And finally, though I’m sure I’m forgetting/leaving out plenty, CRUISIN’ TOGETHER, my new podcast which I’m co-hosting with Chris Giarrusso, launching on 12/30/2014. Learn more right here, and keep an eye on this space for the newest episodes (or subscribe in iTunes; just search “Cruisin’ Together” or “Hatter Entertainment” to find it!).
On to 2015…in 11 days, that is.
