Stick Figure Night Live! is a series of stick figure comic “recreations” of episodes of Saturday Night Live. Just as the show itself is performed live, the comics are drawn “live” while watching the show (with the occasional assist from DVR or some digital clean-up post scanning).
I’ll admit a bias out of the gate: I don’t get Russell Brand, his alleged popularity, sex-symbol-ness, “cheeky charm”, etc. I’m certain it affected how I took in the show (I suspect with someone else in his stead I’d have much more enjoyed that last George Washington sketch)…not sure if it affected my stick-figuring of said show. But really, a joke about a wife telling a husband to check on a noise in the house? I’d like to think everyone on that show is capable of better than that! (though despite my cringing, it got a huge laugh!)
That said, I may not have properly communicated and illustrated the amount of yelling and the baring of teeth on the part of Brand (though I’m pretty happy with the “Royal Taster” panel).
Also, in hindsight, I should have written, instead of “Musical Interlude”, “Dance Interlude” for Chris Brown’s first spot.
Looks like there’s a bit of a break before Miley Cyrus hosts on March 5th, where it seems likely we’ll see more teeth and hear more yelling…
