Stick Figure Night Live! is a series of stick figure comic “recreations” of episodes of Saturday Night Live. Just as the show itself is performed live, the comics are drawn “live” while watching the show (with the occasional assist from DVR or some digital clean-up post scanning).
This week I didn’t plan for space all that well (in as much as I can attempt to thin ahead/plan as I watch), which speaks more to my expectations than anything else, particularly in the “Beyonce & Jay-Z” sketch…once Prince was mentioned I assumed it’d be a different take on “Prince Show”, but instead got an impression parade…and I thought it was too far along to start drawing it again…all of which might be totally uninteresting.
Otherwise, the other major challenge in doing this is cross-talk. A pretty cardinal rule of comics is never to cross the tails of word balloons, a rule I had to break, sadly, in “Bronx Beat”…which I also didn’t plan for particularly well, space-wise (but really, doing all rectangular/letterbox panels…that’s just gonna get boring, right?).
Oh, and once again the singing and actual lyrics were baffling to me. That might just be evidence that I’m getting older. Gulp.
Now…coming up it looked like they said Lindsay Lohan was hosting next? Huh? That’s unexpected.
Love it Gregg! I bet this is fun to do. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Brian (Ryan’s
friendcousin), for checking it out and the compliments!I’ll be honest, there are moments where it’s fun and other times where it makes watching the show more like work than it maybe should be. Hearing feedback is the fun part.
