Stick Figure Night Live! is a series of stick figure comic “recreations” of episodes of Saturday Night Live. Just as the show itself is performed live, the comics are drawn “live” while watching the show (with the occasional assist from DVR or some digital clean-up post scanning).
Oh, these Mitt Romney cold openings are getting meta, with Mitt being portrayed as boring and borderline desperate to appeal to crowds…
Surprised to see Gilly again, especially with the rumor that that character had been retired…but that just goes to show the value of rumors…as if any SNL character’s ever truly retired. That’s like saying characters that die in comic books are ever really dead (oh, that’s kind of meta, too – is this a theme?)
One Direction. Rather than sound like the (apparently) old man I’m becoming, I’ll just say I was surprised to hear the semi-shot taken at them during Update (during the Drunk Uncle segment). With Lana Del Rey and others they waited ’til the following week. But then again they showed up in “The Manuel Ortiz Show” to a whooping of applause, so clearly they’ve got their audience.
Alright, next week’s got Josh Brolin and then, if my math is right, only one more episode after that for the season…right?
Three more shows after Brolin/Gotye, actually. No hosts announced, but there’s a Bieber-ish rumor going around… I may choke on my sadness if that ever happens.
Oh, my math was way off, then.
But who knows, Bieber could have everyone going on about how amazing and talented and funny he is, Timberlake-style, and for years to come we’ll sit through long applause breaks when he pops on and smirks at the camera wearing a wig.
Ha! You jest, sir.
My wife and I are heading to NYC this weekend hoping to catch the Brolin/Gotye show! Any suggestions?
Suggestions for how to get tickets? Oh boy…the only time I ever got to see a live show was because I knew someone working there at the time. Otherwise I know there’s a lottery system for tickets (in August or April, I think? – a month with an A)…and there’s a standby line where I’ve seen people camped out for tickets as early as Friday morning. Or you can offer a ticket holder a lot of money for their tickets.
Good luck!
Thanks Gregg. We got in to the live show! It was amazing!!!
Wow, terrific. How’d you do it?
I wrote about it here…
